January sure was a month. My roommate moved back to the States from Japan; we've lived together on and off since 2008, and we've been sharing this apartment since 2012, so it's a major change for me.
• big personal trip, Summer 2017I bought tickets to visit home this summer. When I first put this on the list, I was thinking Iceland, or maybe the Netherlands. But with all the turmoil at home (I live in Japan, but I'm from the States), I just really, really needed to see my friends and family again. Some friends are coming to visit me on the Cape, and I'm traveling to DC and NYC to see some other friends. I'll probably spend some time in Boston with my relatives, too.
•visit New York CitySee above. I have friends who live there, so I'm gonna go visit 'em.
•reread all of my favorite booksI still haven't written out an official list of what "counts" for this challenge, but I'm ¾ of the way through listening to Redwall on audiobook, and since this summer will be the ten year anniversary of Deathly Hallows, I'm going to reread all of Harry Potter.
•sew a quiltI finished piecing the top a few weeks ago, but I haven't had time to start the actual quilting part. I found the piecing process pleasantly challenging. It wasn't so difficult that I just wanted to give up, but it wasn't mindless, either - a good balance. We'll see how the quilting goes.

•try a new recipe every monthI don't always check in on the monthly and weekly goals, but this slow cooker baked ziti is too delicious and too easy not to share far and wide.
• submit paperwork for Republic of Ireland Foreign Births RegisterI received a copy of my grandmother's birth certificate in the mail earlier this month, and my mom has the new copies of my birth certificate, her wedding licence, and my father's death certificate from my home state. Now I just need to get my father's birth certificate, my grandparents' marriage licence, and my grandmother's death certificate from their home state, and I can start sending filling out the forms.
•throw out/sell/donate unwanted junkThis is still technically in progress for 2016. I sorted out all of the clothes I want to get rid of, but the only place that will take them is across the city. I don't want to just dump my old clothes in a landfill because they remind me of my ex, but getting out there to drop them off is annoying.
